Wednesday’s field trip was a great success! Everyone had so much fun, and I was very proud of how well the students represented St. Gabriel!
Hi everyone!
I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend!
We are now heading into our poetry unit.
In math, we will start translations and then move into measurement (area and perimeter…volume for Grade 5).
The students will be starting Theme 3 (“Created Sexual: Male and Female”) in Family Life.
Next week is the Grade 5’s field trip to Carleton University. Forms are being sent home today and will need to be returned as soon as possible.
Have a great week!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Two of our students participated in the “Diefenbooker” Run on Saturday and ran an amazing 5km! I am very proud of them and all of their training in the Running Club helped them reach the finish line in record time!
This week is fairly busy, and we will be finishing up our websites. Students have been working hard on these and they look very professional and are informative about many issues happening in the world.
In math, we are continuing 2D shapes, angles, and geometry.
In science, we are working on Structures in Grade 5 and Gears and Pulleys in Grade 4!
This week:
Monday: Engineering in the Learning Commons
Tuesday: Running club at 12:05 pm and Ultimate Frisbee practice at 8:00 am.
Thursday: Freezies are being sold at recess!
Friday: Grade 6 Bake Sale and Jump Rope for Heart (remember to bring in your pledge forms)
Have a great week!

This is a message from the Jump Team!
Dear Parents,
We are so excited to launch our Jump Rope for Heart event which will take place on Friday, May 5th during the last block of the day! Please read below for any pertinent information you may need concerning the day.
First of all, we will begin at approximately 2:15 with all children outside jumping rope and having fun!
Should there be a need for a rain-day we will suspend the Jump activities and give parent and teachers ample notice to have the event under optimal conditions.
Please send pledge forms and money to school with your child by no later than Friday, May 5 in the morning.
FRIDAY ATTIRE. Children should BRING THEIR OWN ROPE. We have a large number of ropes, however, we doubt there will be enough for everyone to jump at the same time. Gym clothes and Athletic shoes are highly encouraged as well as hats and Sunscreen + Water Bottles are important.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
The Jump Rope for Heart Grade 4 Team!
I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather!
In Language, we are still continuing with our social justice projects. In Math, we are working on angles and moving into triangles and 2D geometry. Work on constructing angles with a protractor. If you still do not have one, you should go and purchase one because you cannot share during an assessment.
Friday – Jump Rope for Heart Assembly (fundraising information will be given)
We also have Double Lunch Day coming up, so please help support The Ottawa Mission next Wednesday, May 3rd! See the information document for details. and next week is CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK! Students will be busy with many events happening around the school and in the community. We will be going to Mass at St. Isidore on Tuesday. A permission form is being sent home and must be returned by Monday, May 1st.
See the attached Google Doc for more information!
Have a great week!
