Jump Rope for Heart!

This is a message from the Jump Team!

Dear Parents,

We are so excited to launch our Jump Rope for Heart event which will take place on Friday, May 5th during the last block of the day! Please read below for any pertinent information you may need concerning the day.

First of all, we will begin at approximately 2:15 with all children outside jumping rope and having fun!

Should there be a need for a rain-day we will suspend the Jump activities and give parent and teachers ample notice to have the event under optimal conditions.

Please send pledge forms and money to school with your child by no later than Friday, May 5 in the morning.

FRIDAY ATTIRE. Children should BRING THEIR OWN ROPE. We have a large number of ropes, however, we doubt there will be enough for everyone to jump at the same time. Gym clothes and Athletic shoes are highly encouraged as well as hats and Sunscreen + Water Bottles are important.

Thank you,

Sincerely,

The Jump Rope for Heart Grade 4 Team!

This Week: March 20th – 24th

Welcome back and happy first day of spring!

I hope you had a great March Break, are well-rested, and ready for some more fun!

Language

This week we will be working on finishing and practicing summarizing current articles about a variety of events. Soon we will be creating podcasts to share our opinions about some current events. Stay tuned for our Griffin Radio Podcasts!

Math

We are continuing to work on Multiplication and Division. There will be an assessment on WEDNESDAY. Next, we will be moving into Fractions, Rates, and Ratios.
Students are seeing the advantages of becoming fluent with their math facts as we work through our math problems in class. You are encouraged to work at achieving your green circle at least 3 times a week on REFLEX.

Book Sale Results

Thank you to so many of you for donating books for our Used Books Sale. The students worked very hard creating bookmarks, organizing and collecting books, promoting our sale and running the event. They raised close to $1400 for the Therapeutic Clown Program at CHEO! We are so thrilled and proud of our Grade 4/5 students.

Tower Garden Update

We cleaned out the towers before the March Break. It was time to cut down the weeds and clean out the tower. The Garden Club have set the seeds for peppers, tomatoes, eggplant and a few other vegetables. Stay tuned for pictures.

Science – HELP!

The Grade 4 students will be creating a musical instrument to finish up their unit on Light and Sound. If you could bring in materials that would help students to build an instrument of their choice that would be great! (e.g. paper plates, rice, paper towel rolls, cereal boxes, empty Kleenex boxes, elastics, etc.)
Have a great week everyone! See you tomorrow!
